“Audiences loved it. Every single performance had a standing ovation at the end with many whoops and hollers to be heard!” exclaimed Senior Matthew Serafin, who played the role of Professor Callahan in the production. It’s official: Legally Blonde the Musical was a hit, and definitely a highlight of this school year for many.
With six performances and approximately 150 people involved in both the cast and crew, this successful show was not without countless hours of hard work dedicated by Naz Drama students and volunteers. After talking to members of the cast, they all completely agreed, “None of it would have been possible without the hard work of our fearless director, Mrs. White.”
“Pumped, overjoyed, and excited,” were all words used to describe the aura of opening night. Freshman Angela Calabria who played Whitney, a Harvard law student, commented that, “The energy of the cast and crew was unreal! Everyone had been waiting so long that we simply could not wait to perform.” Each number was either hysterical or heartwarming, and had the audience smiling all the way through.
“All of the performers were breathtaking, each in their own way, and everyone shined!” Calabria notes. (Senior) Aileen O’Carroll’s entertaining performance and interpretation of the hairstylist and Elle’s best friend, Paulette Buonafuonte, brought down the house in every show.
Amongst many magnificent talents, Claire Ryan (Junior) and Caitlin Salvino (Senior) both took on the role of Elle Woods and stole the show!
Favorite scenes included: ‘Gay or European’, ‘Bend and Snap’ and ‘Ireland’.
Malvi Gandi (Freshman), who was a part of the Harvard chorus and played the Court Stenographer, remarked, “The audience loved it! Seniors were sad about their last performance at Naz, but definitely went out and gave it their all and were fantastic!”
Legally Blonde the Musical took on a new upbeat, current tone that was a refreshing experience for all who attended. Through many long practice hours and hard work, the dedicated cast and crew of Legally Blonde truly did give Nazareth Academy a phenomenal show that will not be forgotten.
