One of the most wonderful things about Naz is that it is a school that not only cares about its current students, but also provides great opportunities for its prospective students. With the help of Mrs. Stojetz and Mr. Bonk, as well as many teachers and members of the Roadrunner Club, on Saturday, September 29, Naz hosted its sixth annual Academic Expo. This tradition began in 2007 as the activity expo, but shifted its focus towards academic offerings through the years.
This year, around 60 seventh and eighth grade students came to experience three different 45-minute academic sessions and spent the morning at Naz. Many teachers hosted sessions, including an art session by Mrs. Garside, a physics session conducted by Dr. Z, a trifecta of languages by Ms. Demay, Señora Smith, and Mr. Mullen, a math session by Mr. Drinan, a writing session by Ms. Radogno.
The students worked on many fun mini-projects and left with mementos from the expo, whether it was a “Ojo de dios” that they created in Spanish, a fairytale they wrote in English, or a nameplate they made in art.
When asked how her overall day was, eighth grade student Isabella Wallace stated, “It was so nice to get a feel for how classes at Naz are and be able to experience many of the teachers as well! I’m so glad I participated in this!” This tradition is one that, along with shadow days and academic bowls, is one of the many ways Naz continues to reach out to its future Roadrunners.
