In a day and age where accidents and injuries are becoming more and more common, it is good to be able to rely on the generosity of others for help. That’s why Nazareth’s National Honor Society hosted a blood drive in the gym, on Wednesday, April 17th. The blood drive lasted all day and was open to students sixteen years of age and older, as well as faculty and staff. The Announcer spoke with participants in the blood drive on Wednesday, and here is what several of them had to say about the experience.
Q) Why are you giving blood today?
“I did it because my brother gave blood too. It also felt like the right thing to do.” –Joe Mara ‘13
“I wanted to help others, it was worth it and it wasn’t painful.” –Taylor Szala ‘15
Q) Why do you think such opportunities are being given to the students?
“The demand for this kind of help is high and there are plenty of people who are willing to fulfill the demand.” –Kelly McGarry ‘13
“Small acts like this can help out the community and are easy to do.” –Mark Haraus ‘14
Q) How do you feel knowing your blood could save a life?
“It’s really worth it for what small amount of discomfort you get. It is good to know that someone is being helped by your actions.” — Kelly McGarry ‘13
The blood drive was success and the blood collected will surely make a difference in many people’s lives. It is good to know that even in such complicated times, with people living fast paced lives that they can slow down and give to those who really need it.
