Nazareth prepares for K-41

Sarah Reynolds, Editor

All seniors are given the opportunity to attend a Kairos retreat. On Wednesday, November 18, thirty-seven members of the class of 2016, plus adult candidate Religion teacher Ms. Katie Conroy, will leave Nazareth after school and depart to Carmelite Retreat Center in Darien, Illinois. This retreat marks Nazareth’s forty-first Kairos retreat (denoted as K-41) as well as the first Kairos retreat of the 2015-2016 school year. Two more Kairos retreats will follow, one in February and one in March.

This optional retreat is three days; retreat candidates return to campus on Saturday, November 21. Six senior students, Lelandra Randle, Angela Calabria, Sam McLachlan, Jack Weyer, Matt Berger, and myself, in addition to Religion teacher and Assistant Campus Minister Mrs. Janet Rausch, Spanish teacher Ms. Amber Hitney, Religion teacher Mrs. Laurie Stanton, and Alumni and Donations Relations Manager Ms. Colleen Cook will lead the retreat.

Candidate, Senior Aidan Walton ‘16 says, “I’m really excited for Kairos because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and I’m hoping that it can make me a better person just like junior retreat did in certain ways.”

McLachlan sums up the mystery of Kairos, stating, “Kairos is spiritually opening.”
