5 things you didn’t know about the Cubs and The World Series

  • The Cubs Victory Parade was the 7th largest gathering in history.                             

Officials estimate that around 5 million people showed up to the rally and parade on Friday, Oct. 28th. Metra stations were jam-packed with fans and there were many delays.

  • Cubs lose game 3; still win The World Series.

The Cubs lost game three of the World Series, usually this is a huge warning sign that the team that loses will lose the Word Series. This was not the case for the Cubs. They pulled through and became one of the few teams to lose game three and still win TWS.

  • Cubs are the first to tie game 7 in the 9th inning.

All of the hearts of Cubs fans dropped when the game tied up in the 9th inning. After a rain delay we were all on the edge of our seats. In the 10th overtime inning, the Indians scored one run and the Cubs scores two and took the glory for Chicago.

  • Russell hits first Grand Slam in TWS in over a decade.

Shortstop Anthony Russell is not known for his powerful hitting but in Game 6 he changed the fate of the Cubs by hitting a Grand Slam in the 3rd inning giving the Cubs a 7-0 lead.

  • 78 vs. 108

The Indians have gone 78 years without winning TWS. It surely isn’t 108 years but still a very long time!
