On November 6th, the Nazareth Academy community celebrated Signing Day in the Dining Hall with ten senior student-athletes who committed to continue playing at the collegiate level. The room was filled with parents, coaches, teammates, students and members of the administration as student-athletes made their commitments public.
“This signing day is especially remarkable for us because it is ten of our student-athletes who are continuing their athletic careers,” said Principal Therese Hawkins. “We also have students who have been not just amazing student-athletes but also many who were involved in the fuller life of our school.”
Olivia Austin and Danni Scully of the Girls Varsity Basketball team both commit to Division I schools. Austin will be continuing her basketball career at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and Scully will continue her career at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Both Austin and Scully contributed to making school history by winning the IHSA State Championship last season.
Lauren Salata will play volleyball at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Salata helped lead the Girls Varsity Volleyball team to the IHSA State Championship match, where they placed second.
Amalia Dray committed to continuing her soccer career at Boston College in Boston, Massachusetts. Dray plays for both the Girls Varsity Soccer team and the Girls Varsity Basketball team at Naz.
