Student Spotlight: Senior Dan Hubert
October 20, 2013
Just a week ago, the Nazareth boys’ varsity golf team made school history and senior varsity golfer Dan Hubert helped lead the roadrunners on that road to history.
Hubert, while playing a team practice round last Friday for regionals, shot an impressive 68, setting both a personal and school record. “I was very excited and proud of myself”, remarked Hubert as he sat at the lunch table remembering the promising practice round.
Setting the bar high for regionals, Hubert went on to shoot a still impressive 73 and placing 7th overall in the competition. He placed second on the team helping the roadrunners finish third with another record-breaking score of 300, allowing them to advance to the sectional level.
“I started playing golf when I was 8 years old,” said Hubert, “Golf is more calm and not as aggressive as other sports. I enjoy the socializing part of playing a sport and being on a team.”
As the golf season comes to an end, Hubert and his teammates look for yet another consecutive run for state, with looking good for finishing at a qualifying level at sectionals this Columbus Day.
