Student Spotlight: Benedetta D’alfonso
September 29, 2016
Each year Nazareth is presented with the amazing opportunity to accept students from different countries. Italy, one of the most beautiful countries in the world, is home to many bright and creative-minded students. This year, Nazareth received one of those bright and creative-minded students: Benedetta D’alfonso.
“I felt nervous about the new school, but excited about the all new experiences,” Benedetta D’alfonso, a senior at Nazareth Academy, commented on her first emotions prior to coming here. She explains that she arrived on August 17, 2016, only five days before Nazareth’s first day of school. Luckily, Benedetta was fortunate enough to have visited America before, as well as to have family members who suggested Nazareth as the”‘best choice” for her. Agreeing with her relatives, Benedetta continues to be excited for Nazareth throughout the start of the new year.
Benedetta explains several differences between Nazareth and Galileo Galilei, which was her old school and is known to be a scientific school. “We go to school on Saturday, and we have lessons until one pm,” Benedetta stated, “We don’t have clubs or sports to do in school, so I like that characteristic of Nazareth.”
Even though the change was hard for Benedetta, and she will always miss her old school and friends, she was clearly excited to hear about our clubs, as well as having her Saturday’s all to herself.
With the help from Benedetta’s previous year in learning English, she rates her English on a higher scale of 7 out of 10. Since Benedetta is taking Italian, joining clubs, and making new friends, she states that her stay and future here in America will continue to grow. Even though she will miss her old friends and her pool back in Italy, she is excited to enjoy the brand new atmosphere here in the United States of America.
