Club Spotlight: Anime Club

Mia Santilli, Staff Writer

The Anime Club at Nazareth Academy was started by sophomore, Jeremy Kolasa during his freshman year.

Anime is defined as a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children. There are many different types including Shonen, Seinen, Shojo, Josei. In total there are there are over 50 types. Anime started in the 1900s when Japanese filmmakers tried out animation.

The anime club at Naz is run by Jeremy Kolasa ‘18 and Jen Nazareth ‘18; the moderator of this club is Ms. Jen Sheehan. Kolasa explained that he “started the club for people to make new friends if they were shy,” “to give some people somewhere to fit in and because [he likes] anime.”

On a week to week basis the club votes on what they want to do. For example, one week they decided to explore old horror myths that originated in Asia, specifically Eastern Asia.  They meet weekly and are in M201 after school. Anyone who is interested in joining should talk to Jeremy Kolasa or Ms. Sheehan. Everyone is welcome.
