Autumn is awesome
October 4, 2019
Fall has just begun and the weather is changing fast. According to a survey conducted by YouGov, as far as seasons go, fall ranks #1 in the U.S. “Fall is the favorite season of the nation, with 29% responding that they prefer an autumnal climate.” But what is it that is so appealing about the season? Is it Friday night football? The cozy clothes? Halloween? The warm drinks?
Football season is a huge part of the start of fall. Especially high school students are loving the Friday night games and having a great time with their friends. The competition between high schools, especially long standing rivalries, adds to the excitement of the game.
Tonight Nazareth is excited to be playing De La Salle. Sophomore Julia Tita is looking forward to the game. “Football games are so interesting. They’re so fun to go to because our school goes all out and there is always something to look forward to no matter what.”
Sophomore Maeleen Arroyo loves the season and for her it’s all about the clothes. She says, “It’s sweater weather and hoodie season!” So what are you into wearing this upcoming season? Most teens favor the classic jeans or leggings with boots and hoodies.
The much anticipated flavor of pumpkin spice is here, but only for the season! The popular pumpkin spice latte is back at Starbucks, too and only around for a limited time. Also, an informal poll of 22 students had pumpkin pie favored over apple pie.
And of course there’s Halloween: one of the most beloved holidays that people of all ages look forward to. Things like haunted houses, corn mazes and apple picking are a few highlights of the season as well. “I’m excited for the adrenaline of going through a haunted house,” says Junior Caitlin McGarry. Others like to get cozy and watch Halloween movies. Junior Gianna Lopez says, “I love binge watching all of the Halloween Town movies.”
So this fall season, be sure to grab your hoodie, go to those football games, and have fun hanging out with some friends and celebrating Halloween, all while drinking pumpkin spice lattes and eating pumpkin pie.
