On Thursday March 8th, Ms. Augustyn and Ms. Radogno’s American Literature courses performed poetry they wrote on the book The Awakening by Kate Chopin. The poetry reading conveniently fell on International Women’s Day, a day devoted to celebrating the successes that Edna, the main character in The Awakening, would have fought for.
The poems students wrote were based on symbols from the text. Each student used original text, then molded it into poetic form in a way that conveyed some deeper thematic message.
The videos included here highlight just a couple of memorable performances from the day.
